Men's Basketball Falls at Miles

FAIRFIELD, Ala. – The Talladega College men's basketball team dropped its second game in a row as it fell 68-47 on the road against Miles College tonight. The Tornadoes are 2-2 on the year while the Golden Bears are 1-0 to start the season.

Shaun Walker got the scoring started for Talladega when he hit a jumper at 18:42 to make it, 2-0. Miles responded when it put together an 11-3 run to go in front 11-5 with 13:10 to go. The Golden Bears added to its lead as it used a second run to push the lead to 22-9 with just under 10 minutes left in the half. The Tornadoes chipped away at the lead as they were able to cut it to seven to trail 30-23 with 1:44 left. Talladega cut the lead to six to trail 32-26 going into halftime.

Coming out of halftime, Talladega continued to chip away but it wasn't enough as the Golden Bears were able to push its lead back to double figures and go up 43-32 with 14:06 left in the contest.  Miles used a 15-4 run to extend the lead to 58-36 and after that never looked back as it went on to win, 68-47.

Talladega controlled the glass grabbing 37 boards to the Golden Bears 32. The Tornadoes registered 14 offensive rebounds to Miles' eight.

Walker led the Tornadoes in points with 10 and rebounds with eight. He finished with a team-high four offensive rebounds. Walker was 5-of-11 from the field.

Teammates Lamont Sams and Corey Sands each tallied eight points. Sams also finished with six boards of his own.

Wilfred Campbell finished with a team-high four assists while adding five points of his own. He was the only 1-of-2 Tornadoes to drain a three. Sands was the only other player to hit a three.

Michael Kinnard grabbed six rebounds while tallying four points.

Talladega opens up conference play this Saturday at 3 p.m. when it hosts Wilberforce University.
