Women's Soccer Ties Spartanburg Methodist at Home

TALLADEGA, Ala. – The Talladega College women's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw today against visiting Spartanburg Methodist College. The Tornadoes are now 3-6-1 on the year while the Pioneers are 9-3-1 on the season.

Talladega's Annalisa Vincent's shot 3:43 into the game went wide left for either team's first shot. Following the shot Vincent was subbed out for Jenally Barco 14 seconds later. Following a Pioneer goal kick, Barco was able to grab the loose ball and find the back of the net to score the Tornadoes' only goal of the match at 4:13.

The Pioneers were able to get on the board when a yellow card was awarded to Talladega to allow Caitlin Lagos a penalty shot attempt. Her penalty kick for the Pioneers tied the game at one at the 21:45 mark. Both teams went into halftime tied.

Coming out for the second half saw Spartanburg Methodist controlling most of the half as it took five shots with two of them being blocked while another was on goal. The Talladega defense stood strong to hold off the Pioneers and finish in a draw, the Tornadoes' first of the season.

Barco finished with three shots while two of them were on goal for Talladega. Teammate Autumn Wyatt took the team's only other shot on goal.
