Women’s Cross Country Earns Bronze, Cross Qualifies for NAIA Championships

DECATUR, Ala. – The Talladega College women's cross country raced to a third-place finish as Jewel Cross qualified for the NAIA national championships during the 2024 Historically Black Colleges and Universities Athletic Conference Cross Country Championship hosted by Decatur Morgan County Tourism Friday at Oakville Indian Mounds Education Center Course.
 
Jewel Cross earned a silver medal with a second-place finish on a time of 26:45.73. Ja'Neisha Collins of Philander Smith University captured the individual best time in 26:04.02.
 
Also running for the Tornadoes were Amia Montgomery (30:42.40), Dhae'nia Pinnock (31:19.31), Lamoy Duffus (31:23.94), and Dhenecia Pinnock (32:27.24).
 
The Tornadoes were one of two teams to have all runners post a time inside the top 25, which helped the team finish with 81 points to earn the third-place team finish. Dillard, who also had all qualifying runners finish in the top 25, captured the team championship with 35 combined points.
 
Cross now prepares for the 024 NAIA Cross Country Championship taking place on Nov. 11, 2024, in Columbia, Missouri, at the Gans Creek Cross County Course.
