Men’s Soccer Battles in Losing Effort to Bethel

TALLADEGA, Ala. – The Talladega College men's soccer team fought fiercely but gave up two consecutive goals and dropped a 2-1 decision to the Bethel University Royals Friday evening.
 
The Tornadoes (3-6-2) scored first when Tyrike Andrews found the back of the net on a penalty kick in the 10th minute.
 
However, Prince Badu took matters into his hands with a goal in the 15th minute, assisted by Sajair Blair, and another goal for Badu came in the 39th minute on an assist from Jamie Hope to put the Royals (10-6-0) ahead 2-1. The tally held through the second half for a 2-1 win for Bethel.
 
The Royals posted 11 shots and seven shots on goal against four shots and three SOGs for the Tornadoes.
 
Tavar Lawerence posted a 2-for-2 effort with shots on goal, Andrews posted the penalty kick score, and Jevaughn Smith added a shot.
 
Talladega College and Wiley University are set to meet at a neutral site in Flowood, Mississippi, for a Continental Athletic Conference matchup on Oct. 26 at 3 p.m.
