Dega Drops Road Game against Stillman

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. –  The Talladega College women's basketball team stepped out of conference play and dropped a 74-45 decision to Stillman College Tuesday night in Birthright Alumni Hall.

Arieonna Booker led with 12 points and three steals, while Amalya Sharif posted 10 points, five rebounds, and a pair of steals.

Talladega led briefly in the opening quarter when Sharif and Booker connected on back-to-back layups to go up 4-3 two minutes into the period.

However, the lead was short-lived after Alexandra Haymon hit a three-pointer to give Stillman a 6-4 advantage that was never relinquished. The Tigers went on to outscore Dega 21-12 in the first.

After both teams combined for 12 points in the second, Stillman narrowly won the third 20-19. Booker caught fire in the period and finished the third with eight points on 4-of-5 shooting.

However, Stillman pushed further ahead in the fourth and outscored the Tornadoes 25-10 in the final period on the way to the 74-45 final.

Thaniyah Marks led Stillman with 18 points and six rebounds. Alexandra Haymon added 17 points, four rebounds, two assists, and two steals.

Next up for Talladega College is a trip to face Southern University at New Orleans on Jan. 29 at 5:30 p.m. in a return to Gulf Coast Athletic Conference competition.
