Women’s Hoops Fall to (RV) Rust

TALLADEGA, Ala. – Ten days after the first meeting with Rust College, the Talladega College women's basketball team hosted the Bearcats at the Dr. Billy C. Hawkins Student Activity Center Monday night in Gulf Coast Athletic Conference action. However, the Tornadoes dropped the matchup 58-31.
 
Arieonna Booker led the way against one of the top teams in the country with a double-double. Booker tallied 12 points and 10 rebounds while adding four assists.
 
The Tornadoes (5-11, 2-5 SSAC) opened the game on a 9-4 run capped by a pair of free throws from Jordan Austin at the 4:05 mark. Rust responded with a 10-2 run to end the quarter with a 14-11 advantage.
 
In the second quarter, the Bearcat defense turned up the intensity and limited Talladega to a point, while Rust scored 15 to take a 29-12 lead to the locker room.
 
The Bearcats' pressure continued in the second half, as Rust won the third quarter 13-7 and the fourth 16-12 on its way to a 58-31 victory over Dega.
 
Karyn Ford led Rust with 12 points, six rebounds, and two blocks. Musharapha Alhassan added 10 points and six rebounds.
 
Talladega College returns to action tomorrow on the road against Stillman College, with tipoff in Tuscaloosa set for 5:30 p.m.
