MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Talladega College men's basketball picked up its 15
th win of the season with a 71-61 road win over LeMoyne-Owen College tonight. With the win, the Tornadoes extend their winning streak to 13 games.
Talladega is now 15-1 on the season while Magicians fall to 6-8 on the year.
The Tornadoes jumped out to an 11-4 lead to open the contest, but the Magicians were able to use a 5-0 run to make it a two-point game with just under 12 and a half left. Talladega put together an 11-2 run to push its lead to 22-11 with 8:50 remaining. LeMoyne-Owen attempted to chip away at the Talladega lead as it cut the lead to six four times before the Tornadoes were able to get it back to double-digits. With the Tornadoes holding a 33-23 lead with 3:37 to go, the Magicians strung together a 10-5 run to make it a 38-33 Talladega lead headed into halftime.
Ethelbert Anum scored Talladega's first six points to open up the second half and push the lead to, 44-34. With just under 15 minutes remaining,

Corey Sands followed up with a layup to push the lead to 13 for Talladega. Both teams went back and forth with the Tornadoes holding the edge, but LeMoyne-Owen was able to cut the lead to 52-50 with 9:34 remaining. Talladega used an 11-1 run, but the Magicians fought to try to keep it close and unfortunately weren't able to overcome the deficit. The Tornadoes were able to go on to earn the 71-61 victory.
Talladega cleaned up the boards 37 to 27 with each team grabbing six offensive rebounds.
The Tornadoes finished the night shooting 50 percent (25-of-50) from the floor and 84.2 percent (16-of-19) from the line. The Talladega defense held the Magicians to 39.3 percent (22-of-56) shooting from the field and 33.3 percent (8-of-24) from three-point range.
Talladega's
D'Andre Boyd led the team in scoring with 18 points while going 11-of-12 from the line. He also tallied seven rebounds while dishing out four assists in the process.
Jevon Tatum tallied 11 points while going 5-of-6 from the line. While Anum finished with a team-high five field goals made while registering 10 points.
Wilfred Campbell finished with a team- and game-high eight rebounds.
Talladega is back home on Tuesday, Jan 16 at 7 p.m. when it hosts GCAC rival Wiley College.
