Women’s Soccer Open at Home against Thomas

TALLADEGA, Ala. – The 2023 season opened for the Talladega College women's soccer team at home in a 6-0 loss to Thomas University Thursday night. 
 
Jenally Barco tallied both of her shots on goal to lead the attack for the Tornadoes (0-1). Natalie Need came up with three saves in defeat.
 
Pearl Mortimer scored two early goals with an assist from Elsebeth Andersen on the opening shot and Anderson and Madelyn Musgrove's second goal to give the Night Hawks (1-0) a 2-0 at the half.
 
Kaitlyn Herb registered a goal at the 48-minute mark unassisted. With just under 50 minutes into the contest, Mortimer completed the hat trick off an assist from Ali Baca. Musgrove found the back of the net near the 63-minute mark, and Herb scored a second goal under six minutes later to give Thomas the 6-0 final margin. 
 
Mortimer posted four shots on goal, which paced the Night Hawks. Emily Lamoreaux collected two saves.
 
Next for Dega is a trip to Montgomery to face Alabama State University on Aug. 31 at 6 p.m.
