Men’s Soccer Fall Short in Physical Matchup, 2-1

TALLADEGA, Ala. – In a contest that featured five yellow cards and a red card, the Talladega College men's soccer team opened the season with a 2-1 loss to Florida College Thursday night. 
 
Jhon Solis posted the first goal of the night with an assist from Leo Hackett at the 11:24 mark to put the Falcons (1-0) ahead early. 
 
Both attacks went quiet through the half before Jokubas Samsonas broke the silence from Florida College with a score at 55:25 to push the lead to 2-0.
 
Tyrike Andrews scored his first goal of the year for Dega (0-1) at the 71-minute mark to cut the lead to 2-1, but the Falcons held on to collect the early season road win. 
 
Talladega showed a balanced offensive effort, with Christopher Syms, Shay Gobin, Jose Attong, and Andrews posting a shot on goal and registering a shot attempt each. Leonard Richardson collected four saves and allowed the two goals. 
 
Solis stood as the clear leader for Florida College as he posted three shots on goal in five total attempts. Markus Sundin patrolled the backend with three saves and one goal allowed. 
 
In all, three yellow cards went against Dega, while two yellows stung the Falcons. Donovan Roberts received the lone red card for Florida College. 
 
The Tornadoes retake the field on Saturday, Aug. 26, at 4 p.m. as the team hosts Freed-Hardeman.
