ATLANTA, Ga. – Four Talladega College student-athletes scored in double figures in the 68-65 road win at Morehouse Saturday afternoon.
The Tornadoes are now 9-1 on the season.
Corey Sands and
D'Andre Boyd added 17 points apiece while
Ethelbert Anum accounted for 13 points and nine rebounds.
Wilfred Campbell accounted for 10 points in the victory.
For the game, TC buried 22-of-45 shots from the floor, including eight-of-15 from downtown. The squad pulled down 33 rebounds in the victory.
Down by two at the break, Boyd's lay-up off a pass from Campbell made it 33-32. His free throw completed the old-fashioned three-point play. Sands nailed a deep shot for a 37-32 lead with 15:1 to play.
Leading 47-46,
Shaun Walker hit two free throws. Moments later, Anum made an inside shot for a five-point edge. Boyd hit a jumper with 7:48 to play before Anum hit two free throws and Walker made a lay-up to go up 11, 57-46, with 7:30 to go.
Morehouse cut the margin to one twice but the Tornadoes extended the lead to five on Campbell's free throws with 2:07 to play.
Up by one with seven seconds to go, Campbell buried two free throws. TC forced Damion Mitchell into a miss at the buzzer and Anum secured the victory with the defensive rebound.
The Tornadoes return to action Tuesday when they play at Lane at 7 p.m.
