MARSHALL, Texas - Talladega College women's basketball lost at the buzzer Tuesday night, as the Tornadoes dropped their first Gulf Coast Athletic Conference (GCAC) game, 41-40, at Wiley University. It was Dega's first regular season game since Nov. 11 after playing a pair of exhibition games on the road against NCAA Division II competition.Â
Wiley opened the game with an 8-0 run, but Talladega stormed back to lead 9-8 at the end of the first quarter. Wiley regained its lead early in the second quarter and took a 19-18 lead into the half. Similar to the first half, the Tornadoes fought back with a late lead change in the third quarter, 29-28, but ended up trailing by one at the end of the night.
The fourth quarter saw four lead changes.
Arieonna Booker, who led Dega with nine points and six rebounds in the game, scored an offensive putback to give Talladega a 36-35 lead with less than four minutes to play. It started a six-point run for the Tornadoes and a 40-35 lead with less than two minutes remaining.Â
Jay'laan Myles hit a 3 with a minute left to pull Wiley within a basket. Talladega's chances to secure the road win fell short, with a missed jumper and pair of missed free throws before Jamiya Eddy hit the eventual game-winning 3 for Wiley with nine seconds to play.

Alexiah McMillian followed Booker's lead with six points, while Stephanie Hubbard and
Destiny Johnson joined Booker with six rebounds apiece. Talladega was held to 27.1% shooting in the game.Â
Eddy finished with a game-high 11 points for Wiley, and Cailan Hale scored 10 points to go along with eight rebounds. Diamond Hawthorne led all players with nine rebounds.Â
