Men's Basketball Extends Winning Streak

TUSKEGEE, Ala. – The Talladega College men's basketball team picked up its fourth straight win with a 47-41 victory on the road against Tuskegee College this afternoon. With the win, the Tornadoes improved to 6-1 while Golden Tigers fell to 1-4 on the year.

Tuskegee opened the game up with a 7-3 lead, but a pair of layups and a free throw put Talladega in front 8-7 for its first lead of the game. The Tornadoes were able to build off it to make it 14-12 lead but a pair of free throws for the Golden Lions knotted things up. Talladega closed the half out by scoring only four points in the final three minutes all on free throws to make it 18-16 Tornadoes at the half.
Neither team in the first half was able to convert a three while both teams combined for 12 field goals made for the half.

Talladega was able to strike first in the second half as it hit a foul shot that started a 10-6 run to push its lead to 28-22 with 15:22 remaining in the game. The Golden Tigers were able to keep the game close as they made it a three-point game with 11:48 left but trailed, 33-30. The Talladega defense was able to hold off Tuskegee and it allowed just 11 points for the rest of the contest, which allowed the Tornadoes to go on to victory.

The Tornadoes bench was a key difference maker in the game as it scored 13 points to the Golden Tigers six.  Talladega finished the contest shooting 27-of-28 (73%) from the line.

The Tornadoes' defense forced 16 turnovers while stealing eight of them throughout the game.
