Tornadoes Fall in Contest against UWG

CARROLLTON, Ga. – Playing in an exhibition matchup, the Talladega College women's basketball team fell in action against NCAA Division II opponent University of West Georgia Wolves 78-50 Saturday evening in The Coliseum.
 
Arieonna Booker gave a quality performance with 15 points, five steals, and four rebounds. Jakayla Geiger also reached double figures with 11 points. Stephanie Hubard and Jordan Austin both pulled down six boards to lead the team in rebounds.
 
As a unit, Dega shot 33.3 percent (21-of-63) from the floor, 22.2 percent (2-of-9) from three, and 42.9 percent (6-of-14) from the free throw line.
 
Talladega held a brief lead early in the game with a layup to serve as the first score 34 seconds into the matchup. UWG responded to go up 4-2 before Booker hit a jumper to tie it up at 4-4. However, Jada Powell hit a layup on the next possession to give the Wolves a lead the hosts never relinquished.
 
Three Wolves scored in double figures as K'Nari Holiday posted a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Zuriyah Davis posted 16, and Anna Gernatt added 12 points.
 
The Tornadoes have one more exhibition before returning to regular season action. The next matchup against another force of nature is the Georgia Southwestern State Hurricanes, with tipoff set for 6 p.m. on November 21 in Americus, Georgia.
