HOLLY SPRINGS, Miss. – The Talladega College women's volleyball team picked up its 20^th win of the season with a 3-0 (26-24, 25-11, 25-11) road win over conference foe Rust College tonight. With the win, the Tornadoes moved to 20-8 overall and 11-1 in the conference, while Rust falls to 5-17 and 3-6 in the GCAC.

Tied at six in the opening set, Rust used a 4-0 run to take the lead, but Talladega answered with a 3-0 run to trail by one. Both teams went back and forth until they were tied at 15. They would continue to trade points and found themselves tied at 24 having to win by two. The Tornadoes took the lead off a kill from Josephine Gates to go up 25-24 and then won the set off a Rust attack error.

Talladega wasted no time in set two as it jumped out to a commanding 14-3 lead. After that, the Tornadoes never looked back and cruised to an easy 25-11 win and took a 2-0 lead in the match.

Leading 6-3 in the third set, Talladega looked to close things out, but Rust kept things close for a while only trailing by three or four points. With Talladega leading 10-7, the Tornadoes closed the set on a 15-4 run to win 25-11 and take the match.

Talladega's Zyaire Prettie Garrit finished with team-highs in kills with 11 and aces with four while hitting .350 for the match.  Giovana Costarelli tallied 18 assists and a pair of aces while picking up two block assists.

Tornado Briyith Echeverri paced both teams with 10 digs for the match.

Talladega is back in action on Thursday at 6 p.m. when it hosts Tuskegee University in non-conference action.
