Women's Volleyball Post Road Win at Miles

FAIRFIELD, Ala. – The Talladega College women's volleyball team picked up a 3-0 road win over non-conference opponent Miles College tonight.

With the win, the Tornadoes are now 27-8 on the season while Miles falls to 12-10 on the year.  Set scores were 26-24, 29-27, 25-17.

Talladega jumped out to a 7-3 lead in the opening set, but Miles chipped away at the lead to make it a three-point difference trailing, 9-6. The Tornadoes used a 6-3 run to push their lead to 15-9, but both teams from that point went back and forth to find themselves tied at 18. Each team traded points until they were tied again but this time at 23. Miles took a one-point lead to go up 24-23 but Talladega took the next three points straight to win set.

Both teams found themselves tied at eight in set two before Miles took a 10-8 lead. Miles put together a 5-1 run to push its lead to 15-9, but the Tornadoes answered with a 10-0 run to take a 19-15 lead. Both teams again found themselves tied at 23, but Talladega took a one-point lead but Miles tied it at 24. Each team traded points yet again to find themselves tied at 26. Talladega won the next three points on back-to-back attack errors by Miles and closed out the set on a kill from Taquoia Rounds.

Talladega looking to close things out in set three took a 10-5 lead to put things in its favor, but Miles wasn't going to go away that easy as it tied things at 10. Teams again traded points to find themselves knotted at 12 until Talladega used a 4-0 run to go back in front, 16-12. From that moment, the Tornadoes never looked back from there as they went on to win, 25-17.

Kiana Polk led Talladega in kills with seven while tallying a pair of digs. Teammate Briyith Echeverri finished the match with 17 digs and five assists.  

Rounds .500 hitting percentage paced the team while she posted six kills and six digs in the process.

Talladega is back on the road Friday at 6 p.m. when it faces Tuskegee University for its final road game of the regular season.
