TUSKEGEE, Ala. – The Talladega College women's volleyball team extended its winning streak to 10 with a 3-0 (25-22, 25-14, 25-16) win on the road tonight against Tuskegee University. With the win, the Tornadoes moved to 28-8 on the season while Tuskegee dropped to 9-17 on the year.
In the opening set, Talladega took an early 14-3 lead and pushed its lead to 22-12. Tuskegee didn't go away quietly as it went on a 10-2 run to come within two, but the Tornadoes closed out the set on a kill from
Nedu Evans to win the set, 25-22.
Tied at seven to start the second set, Talladega strung together an 8-1 run to take a 15-8 lead. After getting out in front the Tornadoes never looked back and went on to win 25-14 to go up 2-0 in the match.
Talladega opened up the third set with a 10-2 lead as the team looked to close the match out. The Tornadoes used an 11-9 run to push their lead to, 21-11. Talladega claimed the set with a 25-16 win and took the match, 3-0.
Evans finished the match with team-highs in kills with 13 and a .857 hitting percentage.
Zyaire Prettie Garrit tallied 11 kills, seven digs, and a pair of aces for Talladega.
Dominique Madarang recorded a match-high 19 assists while
Giovana Costarelli tallied 17 assists. Teammate
Briyith Echeverri paced all players with 16 digs.
Talladega will close out the regular season on Friday, November 3 at 6 p.m. when it hosts Albany State.
