FAIRFIELD, Ala. – Facing a fourth consecutive NCAA Division II opponent proved to be no issue for the Talladega College volleyball team as the Tornadoes defeated Miles College in five sets Tuesday night in Knox-Windham Gymnasium.
The win improved the Talladega record to 6-2 on the season while the Golden Bears fell to 1-1.
Miles College competes in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference which gives the Tornorades a 3-2 record against teams from the SIAC this season.
Talladega (18-25, 26-24, 18-25, 25-22, 16-14) was able to put Miles away in the back-and-forth affair thanks to a triple headed attack. Zyaire-Prettie Garrit provided a team leading 13 kills,
Kenya Glenn was magnificent on the floor with 26 digs. No other Tornado reached double digits.
Sanders posted two block assists and a solo block and Evans added two block assists as well.
As a team, Talladega amassed an impressive .244 attack percentage as opposed to a .140 attack percentage for the Golden Bears.
Kiera Washington led the Miles College attack with 13 kills while Alexia Davis put up a staggering 30 assists in the five set match.
After spending two weeks on the road, the Tornadoes will finally play a home match which will be against Southern States Athletic Conference opponent Life University. The Sept. 10 match is set for a 1 p.m. start in the Dr. Billy C. Hawkins Student Activity Center.
