Coach Speer enters his first year as head cross country and track & field coach of the Talladega College Tornadoes, where he brings a wealth of experience as a former professional athlete and elite USA Track & Field Coach.
Prior to arriving at Talladega, Coach Speer spent the last two seasons as an assistant at Morehouse College focusing specifically on Distance and Middle Distance athletes. As a member of the Maroon Tigers coaching staff, Speer assisted in the coaching of multiple SIAC champions, and was apart of two SIAC cross country team championships and one outdoor track & field championship.
Before entering the collegiate ranks Coach Speer served as a Head High School Cross Country and Track & Field Coach as well as a coach for with an elite USATF/Track Club producing numerous scholarship recipients at the NAIA, D2, and D1 level.
Before pursuing a career in Coach Speer was an USA Elite middle distance runner with a personal best time of 1:48 for 800 meters, and several time SWAC Conference Champion while attending Jackson State University.
Coach Eric Speer is a native of Tampa, Florida, also holds a Teaching Certification in High School Social Studies, and is currently pursuing advanced studies.
