Ranard Adkison was named head coach of the men's and women's programs April 26, 2021. He brings fourteen years of coaching experience at the NCAA level to Talladega.
Adkison joined Talladega College after serving as the Assistant Men's and Women's Coach at D1 Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut from 2016-21, where he helped guide the team to five Conference Championship titles.
Prior to his position at SHU, Adkison coached at Southwest Baptist University, Cal State University- Los Angeles, and Texas A&M University- Commerce. He has coached multiple NCAA national champions, conference champions, All-Americans, and U.S. national championship qualifiers throughout his career.
Adkison was a former NCAA D1 track and field student-athlete at Long Island University- Brooklyn in New York City. He earned seven first team All-Conference awards and finished his career with multiple school and conference records.
While at LIU- Brooklyn, he received a Bachelor of Art in Media Arts. He has since earned a Master of Science in Education from Southwest Baptist University and a Master of Science in Kinesiology, from Texas A&M University-Commerce.
A native of Dallas, TX, Adkison holds certifications from both USA Track and Field (USATF) and the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
