Women’s Basketball Drops Effort to LeMoyne-Owen

TALLADEGA, Ala. – The Talladega College women's basketball posted a powerful comeback effort in the fourth quarter, but the visiting LeMoyne-Owen College Magicians did enough early to preserve a 56-45 win in the Hawkins Student Activity Center Monday night.
 
The Tornadoes (9-17) outscored LOC 23-15 in the final quarter. It was in the fourth where the Magicians (12-13) pushed to a 22-point, 48-26 lead with 5:28 remaining. From there, Dega posted a 19-8 run to close the game capped by a jumper from Arieonna Booker with two seconds left to close the book on the 56-45 loss to LeMoyne-Owen.
 
Meadow Gillispe posted 11 points to lead the offense while Amayla Sharif and Booker both added eight points.
 
Jade Salters led all scorers with 16 points and added six rebounds. Sierra Lynch posted 11 points and Madison Riley rounded out a trio of Magicians in double-digits with 10 points.
 
Talladega College looks forward to the weekend with a regular season ending Gulf Coast Athletic Conference contest against Philander Smith College Saturday at 1 p.m. at home.
