LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – Facing the hosts and top seed proved too high of a hill to climb for the Talladega College women's soccer team as the Tornadoes fell 4-0 to the Georgia Gwinnett College Grizzlies in the semifinals of the Continental Athletic Conference Championships Monday afternoon.
It took 21 minutes before either team could score, but Riko Yasuzawa broke the silence in the 21st minute for her fifth of the season. Yasuzawa later added a goal in the 70th minute.
Cecilie Povlsen scored her seventh of the season in the 28th minute to give GGC a 2-0 lead going into the half.
After Yasuzawa scored, Stella Van Der Sluis added a goal in the 75th minute to cap scoring at 4-0 as the Grizzlies advanced to the CAC Championship finals.
The Grizzlies outshot Dega 18-4 and posted a 11-1 advantage in shots on goal.
Annalisa Vincent posted two shots to pace the offense, while
Gabrielle Bryan posted the lone SOG for the Tornadoes.
Natalie Need played all 90 minutes in goal and came away with seven saves during the match.
Talladega College women's soccer concludes the season with a 5-7-1 record.
