HOLLY SPRINGS, Miss. – The Talladega College women's volleyball team picked up its 10
th conference win while extending its winning streak to three straight with a 3-0 (25-5, 25-16, 25-12) road victory over Rust College tonight.
The Tornadoes are now 17-7 on the season and 10-1 in the conference while Rust drops to 0-16 on the year and 0-11 in the HBCUAC.
Talladega tallied 46 kills on 83 attempts in the three sets as a team to hit .398 for the match. The Tornadoes also tallied 11 aces as a team with
Briyith Echeverri pacing Talladega with a team-high three aces. She also finished with a match-high 14 digs.
Josephine Gates led all players with 12 kills while teammate
Marcelly Perez tallied eight kills of her own. Perez led Talladega with a .636 hitting percentage.
Franchesca Rivas,
Kortni Johnson, and
Taquoia Rounds each registered six kills apiece.
Nuria Santos and
Giovana Costarelli combined for 31 assists out of the team's 37 total assists. Santos finished with 19 while Costarelli ended with 12 of her own.
Talladega is back home on Friday, Oct. 18 at 6 pm when it faces Philander Smith University in the HBCUAC Crossover this weekend.
