Women’s Soccer Falls in CAC Semifinals

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – The Talladega College women's soccer team fought valiantly but fell to the top-seeded Bellevue (Nebraska) University Bruins Thursday afternoon 3-1 in the Continental Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Championship at the Grizzly Soccer Complex.
 
Ximena Jauregui scored the first two goals for the Bruins at the 21:2 mark and at the 46:10 point in the game. Maju Serrano assisted on both scores. Just over 14 minutes later, Katrina Avila found the back of the net to push the lead to 3-0 for Bellevue.
 
Sharanya Smeins helped Dega avoid a shutout a score on assists from Annalisa Vincent and Jenally Barco just after the 84-minute point to cut the margin to the final 3-1 tally.
 
Autumn Wyatt took a team-leading three shots and posted one shot on goal. Hasha Holder, Kendra Page and Barco also registered an SOG. Natialie Nedd posted 13 saves against three goals allowed in the net.
 
Jauregui was a juggernaut for Bellevue and tallied 10 shots and four shots on goal to establish herself as the lead attacker for the Bruins. Alessia Ricciardi spent most of the time in the net and finished with three saves, while Eliza Christensen had a save and goal allowed in 9:14 of action.
 
As a unit, the Bruins took 33 shots with 17 on goal compared to seven shots with five SOGs for the Tornadoes.
