Late Goal Leads to Dega Loss at Florida College

TAMPA, Fla. – A late goal provided all the difference in a gut-wrenching road loss for the Talladega College men's soccer team. The Tornadoes dropped a 1-0 contes to Florida College Saturday evening.

The decisive goal came in the 80th minute Jhon Solis found the back of the net with an assist from Yorgen Torres to clinch the victory.

Talladega (4-3-1) controlled the match in total shots with 16 compared to 10 for the Falcons. The visiting Tornadoes also won in shots on goal, 7-6.

The physical matchup featured 22 fouls between the squads, seven yellow cards and a red card against Dega in the 77th minute. The red card gave Florida College an extra man on the field edge which the team took advantage of to grab the lead.

Tavar Lawrence took three shots with two on goal and Christopher Syms went 2-for-2 in shots on goal. Ivory Smith collected three saves during the match.

The Tornadoes return to action on Oct. 19 against Pensacola Christian College at 6 p.m. in Pensacola, Florida.
