While spending four years at University of Alabama at Birmingham for four years, he guided the team to an NCAA 25
th ranked defense with a 4.9-clip.

The Rams did slash the deficit to nine (35-24) with 1:10 left in the first half, but a jumper by sophomore
Wilfred Campbell (Atlanta, Ga.) as time expired made it a 39-27 edge for the Tornadoes.
Out of intermission, the spread remained anywhere from 12 to 16 points as both sides competed to try and utilize a run either to get CIU back into the game or Talladega push the margin out of reach. The Tornadoes never trailed from the opening tip and gained their largest lead at 21 points with 12 minutes on a Pegues layup (59-38).
The Rams tried to reduce the gap and the nearest they came was 11 points with just over a minute left.
